Finance and Compliance Manager

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Operational Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage daily accounting and finance functions including the timely recording of transactions, cash management, banking, tax obligations, payroll, inventory, receivables, and payables.
  • Provide a financial review of purchase requests, purchase orders and payment requests to ensure.
  • Maintain banking and donor relations and plan and monitor cash flow requirements to ensure the smooth implementation of programs and activities.
  • Prepare and management of taxation records, file all tax returns, including sales tax, income tax, and withholding tax, and ensure compliance with prevailing Government Tax Laws.
Strategic Financial Management
  • Develop and execute financial strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Ensure the company maintains a stable and healthy financial position through effective planning and monitoring.
Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide variance analysis with actionable recommendations.
Financial Reporting
  • Prepare and present accurate, timely, and insightful financial reports for management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee quarter-end and year-end financial reporting processes.
Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax laws, and internal policies to minimize financial and reputational risks.
Cost Optimization and Control
  • Identify cost-saving initiatives and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and control organizational expenses to align with financial goals.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead and mentor the finance team to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Internal Controls and Policy Development
  • Establish and enforce robust internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and financial data.
  • Develop, implement, review and maintain compliance with organizational policies and procedures to ensure best practices.
System and Process Improvement
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to implement financial management systems and automate processes.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Stakeholder/Donor Engagement
  • Act as a liaison with financial institutions, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide financial insights and support to senior management for strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
  • CCA, CA (Partial), CA finalist, ACMA, FCMA, FCCA or relevant degree in finance and accounting
  • At least 5+ years of progressive financial management experience.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in grants management as well as an understanding of Government, and donors’ regulations required.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill with budget preparation and analysis, financial reporting preparation and presentation and the proven ability to translate technical financial data into informative reports.
  • Strong accounting skills and experience, including management of the general ledger, journal entries, payroll, payables, and balance sheet.
  • Prior strong organizational skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills required.
